recan
The task of the recycling organisation recan is to return used beverage cans to the production process in the form of valuable feedstock.
In various European countries, the organisation operates recycling centres where used cans are tested for material quality, sorted, pressed to briquettes and then forwarded to the metalworking industry. There the briquettes are melted down and transformed into feedstock suitable for producing new beverage cans.
The objective is to offer consumers of canned beverages an attractive incentive to achieve the highest possible return quota.
recan was set up in 2004. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ball Packaging Europe, one of the leading beverage can producers in Europe.
recan currently has branches in Poland, Serbia, Germany and the Netherlands and is planning to extend its activities to other European countries. The company is also planning to increase the number of recycling centres for beverage cans in future. Currently recan has recycling centres in Poland, Serbia and Germany.
In those countries in which recan operates, the company co-operates closely with regional waste recycling companies, local scrap dealers, retail companies and other partner organisations.
