New target segment Putting wine in cans opens up new markets for European wine makers. The target segment consists of 20 to 39 year-olds who are not traditional wine drinkers but are eager to try out new premium products that are innovative, practical, sustainable and trendy.
New markets The small-format aluminum slim can (200 and 250 ml) is not just handy on the go, it is ideal for singles at home and for hotel minibars. Because the shape and weight of beverage cans makes them easy yet safe to transport and store, they are also an attractive choice for airline, train and ship operators. Last not least: Drinks cans are the perfect packaging for the worldwide export of wine.
Patented production technology for top quality Vinsafe® is a technology patented by Barokes Wines, Australia, for packaging high-quality wines in cans. Barokes stipulates demanding parameters for wine makers, can makers and fillers to ensure a long product life with zero loss of quality. Numerous international awards testify to the premium quality of the products. Ball Packaging Europe is the only can producer in Europe currently partnering with Barokes.
Ideal combination
Wine is highly sensitive to oxygen. This fact makes a can the ideal wine container, as it is totally airtight and light-proof. To rule out unwanted reactions between wine and metal, Ball has also developed a special internal coating that meets the requirements of the patented Vinsafe® technology. Putting wine in cans is also environment-friendly, because metal containers are fully and infinitely recyclable. And of course wine from a can will never taste corked!
