Our Technical Center in Bonn is permanently developing innovative ideas to create new functions, shapes and designs for the beverage can.  The Center focuses on developing new products from these ideas so that future-oriented solutions ensure growth for Ball Packaging Europe and its customers.

The beverage can appears to be just a simple container. In fact it is a product involving intensive research.  Constant development of product and process technology has turned the beverage can into a high quality, innovative and environmentally friendly packaging. Today the Technical Center plays a leading role in this field.  Ball Packaging Europe is an international leader in tinplate beverage technology.

Key focus of the research work includes:

• alternative printing techniques to really highlight brands and enhance customer loyalty
• optical effects which can positively influence the purchasing decision of consumers at the point of sale, e.g. innovations which offer our customers additional functional value
• constant development of the beverage can from the environment protection aspect, e.g. light-weighting

All new products and production processes are tested at the Technical Center in practical trials. The continuous enhancement of production measurement technology ensures that innovative products and processes meet high quality standards.
