Temperature Indicator

Beverage cans communicate with the consumer: thanks to thermochromic  (temperature-dependent) printing inks, it is possible to give the can a "talking design" which, for example, indicates the optimal drinking temperature.

The thermochromic effect is achieved by adding special pigments to the printing inks whose colours change as the temperature changes. These printing inks can, therefore, indicate a certain recommended temperature or the exceeding of specific boundary values, for example when the beverage is too hot or too cold. The general temperature span is between +4°C and +12°C.

Thermochromic inks can also be applied so that the can is designed as a thermometer. The colour indicator then changes, depending on whether the container is stored in the refrigerator or at ambient temperature.
