Product Measurement

The product measuring equipment comprises measuring units to monitor the finished product and the tools used for compliance with product and tool parameters stipulated in the production specification.

The Technical Center, in co-operation with various external partners, has developed a series of new measuring units.

  • The "inline front-end gauge" - an automatic measuring device which is integrated in the production line to continuously measure the geometric parameters of the wall-ironed can fully automatically
  • A measuring device to measure internal diameter and ovality of the wall-ironing rings
  • An optical measuring device to test the coat thickness of internal varnishes, external varnishes and printing inks
  • A scanning system to inspect can ends: this system is extremely efficient in defining and differentiating defects and defect statistics and it is also very operator-friendly.

With this technology, Ball Packaging Europe has redefined the state of the art of product measuring equipment relating to can-making.
