Optimised and new Processes

The Technical Center constantly analyses and optimises our production processes to enable us to guarantee the best possible quality for our products.

Continuous process enhancements also permit the application of more environmentally sound and cost-effective production methods.

The shaping stages of metal processing - stamping, deep-drawing, wall-ironing, flanging and creasing - have all been perfected by Ball Packaging Europe as processes for the production of beverage cans.

The organic substances used in surface modifying processes - applying auxiliary process materials such as wax, cleaning, drying and varnishing surfaces - are permanently subjected to testing.  Over the past few years this has led to solvents being replaced by water-based varnishes and compounds.

In addition the Technical Center develops the new production processes required to produce product innovations.  One example of this is the widget can: in this case a process to glue the plastic capsule inside was developed and optimised to function perfectly for high quantities and output rates.
